WISCONSIN PLATING WORKS OF RACINE
WINS INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Wisconsin Plating Works of Racine, Inc. has been awarded
the 2003 Industrial Environmental Achievement
Award presented by the Central States Water Environment Association,
Inc. (CSWEA), an affiliate of the Water Environment Federation (WEF).
The recognition by the CSWEA involved competing with
companies in a 3-state region of Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota
in the areas of waste minimization, pollution prevention, environmental
compliance and environmental stewardship.
The company estimates that environmental compliance
costs their company over 10% of their annual sales revenue. General
Manager of the Racine Wastewater Utility, Tom Bunker stated "Historically
plating shops in the Racine area have had their share of run-ins
with environmental compliance. It is refreshing to see an industry
such as Wisconsin Plating Works of Racine to have such a successful
program".
The 3rd generation, family owned business was established
in Racine in 1919. Their company provides metal finishing services
to over 150 customers within a 100-mile radius of Racine. Their company
is ISO-9002 registered, one of only several in the metal finishing
industry in the state of Wisconsin.
